Highway patrol works injury crashes

Kansas Highway Patrol responded to injury crashes on Sunday in Ellsworth and Ness counties.
At 11:15 a.m., an eastbound Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by Evin E. Pierce, 23, from Ponca City, Okla., went off I-70 in Ellsworth County for unknown reasons. According to the KHP Crashlogs, the motorcycle went off the roadway to the left and crossed through the median. Pierce was ejected, landing in the westbound passing lane. He was wearing a helmet. The motorcycle came to rest on the westbound shoulder.
Pierce was taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
At 1:05 p.m., a Toyota pickup went off 125th Road, a quarter of a mile east of Bazine, in Ness County. The driver, Jose German Rivera Jr., 26, from Dodge City, lost control of the eastbound T-100 on the sand gravel road. It skidded into the south ditch, rolling onto its top. Rivera and passenger Julio Cesar Rios-Santoyo, 26, from Aurora, Colo. were taken to Ness County Hospital for their injuries. Passenger Ricardo Ballines, 36, from Denver, was flown by air ambulance to Wesley Medical Center.
KHP reports no one in the pickup was wearing a seat belt.
