Hit-and-run victim identified

The Great Bend Police Department with the help of the Great Bend Fire Department were taking aerial photos on Monday to help with the investigation into the fatal hit-and-run accident in the 4100 block of Broadway that occurred Saturday evening.

The victim that was hit by a vehicle on Saturday evening has been identified as Rose Younger. The vehicle and women that the police were looking for has also been found and it is believed they were not involved in the fatal hit-and-run, Great Bend Police Chief David Bailey said.
According to Bailey, at about 6:45 p.m. Saturday, GBPD officers were dispatched to the 4100 block of Broadway in reference to a subject lying along the south side of Broadway Street. Upon officers arrival It was determined the woman was struck after she had left the Parish center and was walking home. Younger later died due to injuries from the accident.
Younger was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound on Broadway which left the scene. The GBPD is looking for anyone who has video surveillance of the area.
