Hoisington Chamber Banquet set for Saturday
Citizen of the Year 2022

HOISINGTON — Tickets are still available for the 66th Annual Hoisington Chamber of Commerce Banquet Saturday, Feb. 11 at the Hoisington Knights of Columbus, 114 Main St..

Hoisington Chamber Executive Director Karen Baldyga noted that tickets are $30 per person and may be obtained by emailing the Chamber office at hoisingtoncofc@outlook.com.

The evening opens with social hour at 5:30 p.m., with cocktails and a charcuterie board from Clara’s Corner Cafe.

The dinner follows at 6:30 p.m., catered by Danton Riedl and crew, consisting of chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, green beans and salad. For dessert will be cupcakes made by Jessica Baze.

The program includes a recap of the previous year as well as presenting the following awards: Community Education Award; Community Youth Award; Community Service Award and Community Business Award.

The evening concludes with announcement of the 2022 Citizen of the Year.


Ongoing activities

Ongoing activities include voting for the 2022 Citizen of the Year, which ends Wednesday, Feb. 8. Voters must be a resident of Hoisington and is accomplished by going to https://www.hoisingtonkansas.com/vote-citizen-of-the-year. One vote per person is allowed.

This year’s nominees include: Karla Reisner; Megan Thompson, Kathy Copp, Raul Valinsenor; Paul Axman (posthumously); Dave McLeland; Gary Shook; Steve Ritter and Connie Lueker.

Bids are also still being accepted for the online silent auction, which runs until 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20. A few of the items include: Samsung tablet ($200 value); Hoisington gift cards ($200 value); two tickets to the Kansas City Royals game vs. Braves on April 16 ($110 value); two night stay at the Prairiewood (Cottenwood Suite at HomePlace) in Manhattan ($500 value) and many more items.
