HOISINGTON — Jaci Morris celebrated her seventh birthday by giving instead of receiving. Her wish for her birthday was that no one bring gifts to her party. Instead, guests were asked to simply bring a donation for Kans for Kids.
With the help of her dad, Jacob Morris, she invited friends and family to join in the celebration held in her grandparent’s, Jim and Cathy Morris, front yard. Everyone was invited to stop by, jump in the bounce house, participate in other fun-filled activities and have a snack.
According to Jaci, she really didn’t need any presents for her birthday because she already has so many toys, “If we were sick, we would want someone to help us so we decided to help kids that are sick and give something to Kans for Kids.” This is the second year that Jaci has done a fundraiser for her birthday. Last year’s proceeds were donated to the Humane Society.
According to Kans for Kids representatives, “We absolutely love to see children learn to give instead of receive. Jaci has such a beautiful ‘heart of gold’ and we are so grateful to her and her family for their support.”
Kans for Kids is currently providing emotional and financial support to 13-year-old Dade Cannon who has been battling leukemia for the past eight years. He is currently receiving treatment at Children’s Mercy in Kansas City in hopes that remission will be obtained so that he can receive a bone marrow transplant.
