Holiday deadline is here

There is still time to mail Christmas cards and packages and have them arrive before Dec. 25 in the United States.

First Class Mail and Priority Mail should be postmarked by Thursday, Dec. 20. The deadline for Priority Mail Express is Saturday, Dec. 22.

While stamps and packing materials are available at the Great Bend Post Office, holiday stamps sold out early last week.

The price of First Class stamps will increase from 50 cents to 55 cents on Jan. 27, 2019. Forever Stamps can be used at any time, so stamps purchased now will be good after the price increase.

Forever Stamps aren’t the only postage change proposed by the U.S. Postal Service for 2019, but postage for domestic postcards will remain the same at 35 cents, and additional postage for letters over one ounce will decrease from 21 centers to 15 cents.
