Great Bend City Administrator Kendal Francis, along with Mayor Cody Schmidt, have made the decision to cancel the Nov. 28, Home for the Holidays Parade and Festival. A positive COVID-19 case has quarantined all staff members that plan, organize and execute the event.
“Covid continues to be a disruption to everyone, but we will not be dissuaded,” Francis stated. We will work to safely and responsibly provide as many of the day’s events as is possible.”
Here is the portion of the Day that will still go on as planned:
• Stores will still be open and hosting the cookie contest and taking entries for the Explore Great Bend Month Giveaway. Winners for both will be announced live on Facebook at a later date. Watch Explore Great Bend on Facebook for more info.
• Trail of Lights will still officially open.
• The downtown window decorating contest will take place.
• The City will announce later the hours and times of the Ice Skating and Santa visits.
