Infant dies in hospital

A 5-month-old girl who was rushed to the hospital on Monday has died, the Great Bend Police Department reports.

The Great Bend Police, Great Bend Fire and Emergency Medical Service responded to an apartment located in the 1300 block of Cherry Lane at 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 28 in reference to an unresponsive infant, Police Chief David Bailey said. 

According to reports, she was then transported to the University of Kansas Medical Health Systems - Great Bend Campus Emergency Room. Lifesaving measures were attempted on scene and at the hospital. The infant was then transported to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita by air ambulance where she remained in critical condition.

On Thursday Jan. 29 the infant passed away as a result of her injuries. 

This incident is under investigation by the Great Bend Police Department and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Great Bend Police Department 620-793-4120 or Crime Stoppers 620-792-1300. No arrests have been made at this time.
