gbtribune news

Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash at 1:40 p.m. on Friday, 4 miles north of Larned on U.S. 183.
Kansas Highway Patrol reports a 1980 Kenworth semitrailer driven by Dallas Hiebert, 63, of Rozel, was northbound on U.S. 183 slowing to make a left turn onto S Road. A 2006 Ford sport utility vehicle driven by Kenlee West, 23, of Liberal, was northbound behind the Kenworth and a red pickup. West changed lanes in the southbound lane in an attempt to pass the semi. The SUV struck the back of the semi’s trailer as it was turning left onto S Road.
The Ford came to rest in the west ditch and Hiebert completed the turn and parked the Kenworth on the north shoulder of S Road.
Two passengers in West’s vehicle, Jacqueline Ravera, 21, and Benito Ravera, 49, both from Liberal, were injured in the crash. Jacqueline Ravera was taken to Pawnee County Community Hospital in Larned and Benito Ravera was taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. The drivers and two other passengers in the SUV were not injured.
KHP reports everyone in the Ford was wearing a safety restraint; it was unknown if the driver of the Kenworth was wearing his seat belt.
