Great Bend High School bands will present their concert “Music in Our Schools” at 7 p.m. today in the GBHS gym. The theme was set by the newly-named music organization National Association of Music Education.
The varsity band will play Clash of the Titans, Encanto, By the Rivers of Babylon, and John Williams in Concert. Night Song, Escapada and Shackelford Banks are selections of the Junior Varsity Band. Jazz Band pieces include Sing, Sing, Sing, When a Man Loves a Woman, On Green Dolphin Street, and Gospel John.
Varsity and junior varsity band members have their in-house contest on Thursday. Varsity Band will perform at 8:05 a.m. and Junior Varsity will start at 9 a.m. Adjudicator/clinician is Dr. William McMosley from Salina.
The high school varsity and junior varsity orchestras will play their concert at 7 p.m. on Thursday in the GBHS auditorium. Orchestra contest was held several weeks ago. The concert is free and the public is invited to come.
