The project to improve the 10th and Grant street intersection started Monday, city officials said. Part of intersection blocked off and Grant is closed on the north side of the junction as the old street surface is being removed. This is an 85-working-day project, so it should be done by mid July. Although 10th Street will remain open, it will be narrowed and there will be other closures, thus limiting traffic. Morgan Brothers Construction Inc. of LaCrosse, is handling the $688,473 project, of which the Kansas Department of Transportation is covering 90 percent, leaving Great Bend paying $214,000.
