Intoxicated man reports stabbing from years ago

The Great Bend Police Department and Barton County Sheriff’s Office both responded Saturday when a man walked into Braum’s, 4209 10th St., and said he’d been stabbed. Officers were summoned at 9:11 p.m. and spoke to the man. According to the GBPD Daily Incident Log, he was under the influence and complaining of an injury from years prior. He was transported to the hospital for reported chest pains.

Someone from The University of Kansas Health Systems Great Bend Campus, 514 Cleveland St., contacted police at 10:18 p.m. to say the man was being discharged but refused to leave. Police contacted him and he was given a ride to 29th and Williams.

At 11:36 p.m. police were called to remove a subject from Kwik Shop 747 at 2334 Main. The same man was in the store, lying on the floor. He left after police spoke to him.

At 11:57 p.m. the man was arrested at the Great Bend Brit Spaugh Zoo on a charge of criminal trespass. He was booked into the Barton County Detention Center in lieu of $500 bond; he may post the bond or will be released on his own recognizance after 48 hours.
