Great Bend’s Parade Through Time on Friday brought a new twist to June Jaunt. Businesses and organizations were invited to create entries from the present into the past, going back to the late 1800s.
Friday kicked off a weekend of activities, from the grand reopening of the Barton County Courthouse to the start of the Great Bend Public Library’s Summer Reading Program, Final Fridays on Forest Ave. and Cruise Night with the Shifters Car Club.
Here is the schedule for the remainder of June Jaunt activities on Saturday and Sunday:
Saturday June 1
All Day - Live music
Fire and Police Chief’s Badge Hunt - Go to “Explore Great Bend” on Facebook for a new clue at 8 a.m., noon, and 6 p.m. to win a $50 gift card to any Great Bend store.
June Jaunt Jumbo Monopoly in Stores - Pick up your board game piece at the Square, City Hall or Downtown Stores and visit the locations to answer Community Chest Questions and your chance to win $50 to any of the stores.
Hap Dumont Baseball Tournament - The Great Bend Rec hosts a 60+ team baseball tournament and invite you out to the Great Bend Sports Complex.
9 a.m. - Outdoor food and Vendor Fair - Come to Jack Kilby Square for Food, Crafts, Art, Jewelry, and so much more. Jumbo Yard Games - There are 12 Jumbo games and the new game this year is Jumbo Horseshoes! Come play them all.
9-4 p.m. - MEGA Inflatable Zone - New inflatables and games for the kiddos! Jump all day.
9-4 p.m. - Model Train Display - See the Golden Belt Model Railroad Association Display in Jack Kilby Square.
9-4 p.m. - Model Airplane Display - See the Model Association of Central Kansas Airplane display in Jack Kilby Square
10 a.m. - Little Big Band Performance - Experience the timeless charm and toe-tapping rhythms of the local Little Big Band - Big Band Shell
10 a.m.- Face Painting - Get your face painted by Dani in Jack Kilby Square.
11 a.m. - Marvelous Matthew - Show #1 -Prepare to be spellbound by Matthew’s enchanting illusions and captivating charm Big Band Shell.
Noon - The Coffee Can: A Play In One Act - Join us for the free theatrical production by the Great Bend Community Theatre talent at the band shell. This show was written by John O’Connor. Don’t forget your chair for a comfortable viewing experience.
1-2 p.m. - Great Bend Business/Family Olympics Competition - Back for another year of wacky competition and games. Gather your team of four and join the excitement.
2 p.m. - Marvelous Matthew - Show #2 - Prepare to be spellbound by Matthew’s enchanting illusions and captivating charm at the band shell.
2-11 p.m. - Community Beer Garden - Savor the moments and enjoy a cold one while listening to great musical performances! Hosted by the Central KS Shrine Club.
3 - 4:30 p.m. - Flow Foundry Aerial Performance - Experience the mesmerizing and graceful artistry of silk movement. Join us at the West Side Grassy Area for a captivating display of aerial beauty.
4:30 p.m. - The Circus Man Performance - Show #1 -Catch the thrilling experience, with Fire, Juggling, Unicycle, Comedy and more. Don’t miss out on the excitement! Big Band Shell and Open Sidewalk Area.
5-7:30 p.m. - Vegan Shark Performance - Rock out with this Dodge City Band with their electrifying tunes and eco-conscious vibes. Band Shell Stage.
6 p.m. The Circus Man Performance-Show #2 - Fire, Juggling, Unicycle, Comedy and more! Big Band Shell and Open Sidewalk Area.
7:30 p.m. The Circus Man Performance - Show #3 - Fire, Juggling, Unicycle, Comedy and more! Big Band Shell and Open Sidewalk Area.
8-8:45 p.m. - Harbingers Performance - Catch this local band with their original songs on the Big Band Shell Stage.
8:45 p.m. - Phlox Fire Performance - Watch in awe as they ignite the night with fire dancing and breathing. Don’t miss this exhilarating show! Open Sidewalk Area.
9:45 p.m. Home Brew Performance - End the night with Great Bend’s favorite group, home brewed right here in Great Bend, at the Big Band Shell Stage.
Sunday June 2
