Juvenile Services, Community Corrections set to review outcomes

The Barton County Commission will look at end-of-year outcomes for Fiscal Year 2024 in relation to both the 20th Judicial District Juvenile Services and Central Kansas Community Correction when it meets at 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, at the Courthouse. The meeting will be live-streamed through Microsoft Teams and may be viewed online at https://bit.ly/48PygVX.

Brooke Haulmark from Community Corrections will also provide details of a grant application for $136,693 for Fiscal Year 2025. If approved, this funding will allow for a full-time support staff member and an overall increase to operating expenses.

Following the close of the agenda meeting, the commission will consider the authorization of personnel changes for classified positions and sign any documentation required for county business. The following appointments are scheduled:

9:45 a.m. - meeting with Public Health Director Karen Winkelman on staffing issues.

10 a.m. - Rural Opportunity Zone discussion with Jason Murray, Golden Belt Community Foundation.

10:15 a.m. - Budget request from the Barton County Historical Society

10:30 a.m. - Budget request from Dena Popp, 911 director

11 a.m. - Department visit to include Recycling Grant Update, at the Solid Waste Facility, 350 NE 30 Road, Great Bend.

1:30 p.m. - Regular business and continuing budget discussion in the Commission Chambers at the Courthouse with County Administrator Matt Patzner.

• County officials have been invited to the Ellinwood After Harvest Festival Mayor’s Luncheon at noon on Saturday, July 20, at the Grove Park Golf Course, 407 W 3rd, Ellinwood.

• KVGB-AM broadcasts The County Edition at 11:05 a.m. Thursdays. Members of the Health Department are scheduled for July 18.
