K-9 unit indicates at Central Plains student parking lot

CLAFLIN — The Claflin Police Department, in cooperation with the Barton County Sheriff’s Dept., conducted a K-9 walkthrough at Central Plains High School on Wednesday, April 10.  While patrolling the high school parking lot, Deputy Kia indicated on a parked vehicle. According to Claflin Police Chief Gregg Vannoster, the operators of the vehicle were contacted, gave consent, and a search was conducted. A green,leafy substance was discovered, along with drug paraphernalia and supplies. Verification of the substance will be conducted by the KBI, and charges are pending with the Barton County Attorney and the District Court.
