Resurfacing will start soon on two K-96 projects totaling $8 million in Barton and Rush counties.
The Kansas Department of Transportation projects involve a milling and hot-mix-asphalt overlay on K-96 from just east of U.S. 183 at Rush Center, in Rush County, to the west city limits of Great Bend, in Barton County. The projects cover almost 15 miles in Rush County and almost 14 miles in Barton County.
The work is expected to begin around March 25 and be completed around early May, with the work beginning at Rush Center.
During the work, traffic will be controlled by flaggers and a pilot car. Motorists should be prepared to slow down and stop and expect up to a 15-minute delay.
Venture Corp., of Great Bend, is the primary contractor for the $4,608,731 project in Rush County and the $3,414,837 project in Barton County.
