District Judge Hannelore Kitts announced Thursday afternoon that she will not seek re-election to her position as district court judge of the 20th Judicial District this year.
“I have enjoyed serving the citizens of the 20th Judicial District during the last 16 years, but it is now time to enjoy retirement,” she said. “Thank you for allowing me to be your judge.”
Kitts was appointed to her position by Kansas Governor Bill Graves in September 1995, and re-elected four times. Her current term expires in January 2013.
The district includes Barton, Russell, Ellsworth, Rice and Stafford counties.
