Recently appointed Barton County Commission District 1 Commissioner Kirby Krier Monday morning asked that the commission revisit the county COVID-19-related mask mandate. No action was taken, and the matter will be addressed at an upcoming weekly study session.

The commission, meeting as the Barton County Board of Health this past November, voted unanimously to adopt a county-wide mask mandate that went into effect as soon as it was signed. The resolution applied to the entire county, including the incorporated areas, and shall remain in effect until rescinded.

Two previous attempts by commissioners to institute a mandate failed before a mandate was adopted on Nov. 24, 2020.
