University of Kansas basketball players will be here April 17 for the Kansas Barnstorming Tour, coming to the Barton Community College Gym in the Kirkman Center.
This is a benefit basketball game highlighting the talents of area high school seniors against former Kansas Basketball senior players of Brady Morningstar, Tyrel Reed and Mario Little. There will also be time for autographs and meeting the public, starting at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $8 and go on sale at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Great Bend Recreation Commission Office, 1214 Stone Street. All tickets are general admission. Great Bend Recreation Commission Director Diann Henderson said the KU seniors will play the GBRC All-Stars, composed of seniors Dakota Ellis and Greg Hildebrand from Great Bend High School; Luke Becker and Dustin Broeder from Hoisington High School; Michael Hlavaty and Dominic Trapp from Otis-Bison High School; Courtney Liebl from Central Plains High School; Zach Minnis and Brandon Blakeslee from St. John High School; Kyle Bunker and Derek Bevan from Macksville High School; and Lauren Thill and Kyle Corbett from Ellinwood High School. The GBRC All-stars will be coached by Alan Clark from Otis-Bison High School.
Game proceeds provide GBRC scholarships for locally economically challenged youth and individuals with disabilities participating in GBRC programs.
The autograph session will last from approximately 2-3:45 p.m., Henderson said, noting autographs are not guaranteed. Kansas Barnstorming T-shirts will also be available to purchase. Game time is 4 p.m.
