The automated teller machine at the downtown Great Bend Landmark National Bank was broken into early Wednesday morning, Great Bend Police Cliff Couch said.
However more information, such as the amount of money taken or the exact time of the burglary, is not being released.
Couch said since the bank, located at 1623 Main St., is insured through the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the burglary is a federal matter and his office has contacted the Federal Bureau of Investigation. “They are helping us on this.”
Matt McPhillips, spokesman with the FBI’s Kansas City, Mo., field office, confirmed Wednesday afternoon the agency’s involvement. “We are working with our local partners.”
The scene was marked off with yellow crime scene tape Wednesday as from the GBPD officers, Kansas Bureau of Investigation agents and other law enforcement personnel scoured the area.
