LARNED — Students at Larned High School are pumped for the varsity football team’s homecoming this Friday. Monday, they arrived dressed head to toe in red, white and blue for the first day of Spirit Week, “Merica Day.” Today is “Twin Tuesday,” Wednesday is “Dress like a Teacher Day,” Thursday is “Beach Day,” and Friday students are asked to dress in school colors orange and black.

The Larned Boosters will host a bonfire at the Pawnee County Fairgrounds Thursday night around 8 p.m., weather permitting. Friday, all district students will be released at 2 p.m. in order to attend the homecoming parade at 3 p.m. The parade will start at 4th Street and travel north on Broadway to the Pawnee County Courthouse , where a pep rally is planned there immediately following the parade.

A film crew will be in Larned Friday, and will be shooting video of the parade, the pep rally, and the homecoming game for the public relations campaign the city, county and Chamber of Commerce partnered in June to produce over the next year. The city will host a hotdog feed and bouncy houses at the high school prior to the game.

The crowning ceremony will begin at 6:25 p.m. at the football field. The Larned Indians face the Hoisington Cardinals at 7 p.m.
