Saturday, March 4 was the Cozy Crafts event at the Great Bend Public Library. From 11 a.m. to noon, staff members Haylee Huddleston from Teen Services and Erin Ferguson from Adult Services conducted a short demonstration on how to create a “boho” wall art hanging. This free-spirited style mixes different cultures with an emphasis on organic elements – in this case, yarn.
Teens and adults were present for the event. With varying colors and styles of yarn, participants were to loop the yarn around their stick in any pattern desired to create their wall hanging. Once satisfied, a macrame string was tied from end to end to create a way to hang the artwork from the wall.
“This is our way to try and bridge the gap between generations,” Huddleston said.
The hour was filled with chatter, laughter, and just an overall good time. The goal of this event was to encourage all generations of people to get together. In total there were nine people in attendance. One teen was present with her mother in addition to seven other women of different generations.
