When sixth-graders at Lincoln Elementary School in Great Bend became graduates of All Stars recently, they shared their “commitment letters” with classmates and others.

A few examples of the written comments and their authors were:

• All Stars taught me to make the right choices, even when it is difficult: Emmett Mawhirter

• I will always make the effort to seek a trusted adult when I am faced with challenges: Hope Bosley

• I know I have to work hard, be disciplined and have goals for life. All Stars helped me with that: Wyatt Holguin

“All Stars focuses on topics that affect students such as their habits, reputations, judgments and forward-thinking,” said Tyler Morton, prevention advocate at Juvenile Services. “The program also provides guidance about how decisions lead to consequences.

“Other topics include leadership, giving back to others and working with your family as a unit. In addition, All Stars brings to light the changes coming with middle school. This information can alleviate the concerns and pressure that come with a new school, new peers and a lot more opportunities.”
