This Saturday, the Great Bend Public Library and USD 428 are partnering together to provide the community’s families and children with a fun event for the Great Bend Reading Initiative, based on “The Little Red Hen.” Between 10:30 a.m.and 12 p.m. tomorrow (Nov. 16), you and your family are invited to visit the library for the Little Red Hen’s Barnyard Bash. If the weather cooperates the event will be in the library’s parking area, otherwise the event will be inside the library.
Each school in Great Bend will have a booth featuring a family activity. There will also be community organizations providing other educational opportunities, including flour and bread-making demonstrations and real farm equipment and tractors to look at and touch. Jammin’ Randy will perform a concert for kids, and some live chickens will even join the party! We hope you will join the library and the local schools to celebrate this year’s Reading Initiative.
Next week there are many more activities at the library for all ages. The next Adult Life Skills class is at 6 p.m. on Thursday, November 21 and will focus on helping people learn job-hunting skills. Erika Brining from The HR Pro will share information with community members on how to go about creating a resume to capture an employer’s attention. Erika will also give some tips for how to prepare for an interview to impress a potential employer. This event does not require any registration, and is open to adults as well as older teens.
For event info or other library information, please visit our Facebook page or website (greatbendpl.info), stop by the library (1409 Williams St), or give us a call (620-792-2409). We hope to see you soon.
