Local candidate forum on July 18

Get to know the candidates who are running for four local positions at the July 18th candidate forum at the Great Bend Senior Center on 2005 Kansas Ave. The League of Women Voters (LWV) of Great Bend - Barton County has invited eight candidates to participate. Candidates will introduce themselves and answer two pre-determined questions each. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with the forum starting at 7 p.m. Attendees may mingle with the candidates before and after the questions are completed. Light refreshments will be served. 

The invited candidates include: County Clerk - Bev Schmeidler and Alicia Straub; County Register of Deeds - Glennda French and Susan Williams; City Council, 1st Ward - Lindsey Krom-Craven and Gary W. Parr; Ellinwood Hospital District - David Gonzales and Harry A. Whiting.

Candidates have been encouraged to post their biographical information on the Great Bend Chamber of Commerce events page. Election information can also be found on the LWV national website Vote411.org. Here the candidates may post their biographical information and answers to questions on the position for which they are running. Great Bend Chamber of Commerce Director Megan Barfield will host the July 25 forum, which will focus on national and state positions.
