River Of Life Church members Frances Rome and Richard Elson handed out Thanksgiving meals on Wednesday, as other members of the church prepared the meals at the church.

The River Of Life Church members gave out free Thanksgiving dinners to anyone that stopped by their bus on Wednesday. Two church members, Richard Elson and Frances Rome were in the Salvation’s Army parking lot with coolers full of meals. Rome held up a sign alerting passing motorists of “Free Thanksgiving dinners here.”

“We are very pleased to be helping out the community and helping people that might not get a Thanksgiving Day dinner,” Rome said. “We hope to help as many as we can.”

As of 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, they have handed out 62 meals and were hoping to pass out at least 120 meals. The meal consisted of turkey, mashed potatoes, green beans, stuffing and a dessert.

“This marks the second year we have handed out meals to the public,” Elson said. “As we hand out meals, members at the church are cooking and getting more meals ready.”

The meals were offered were for anyone who wanted one. According to Elson, they even had some people from out-of-town passing through and stopped for a meal.
