County driver’s license services were in business as usual Friday across the state after a statewide outage was experienced Thursday.

A check of area county treasurers’ offices whose services include DMV facilities in Barton, Pawnee and Stafford counties indicated their departments were up and running Friday morning.

Stafford County Clerk Lisa Weber issued a social media statement Thursday indicating that the Treasurers’s Office could not process driver’s licenses or tag renewals because of a statewide outage.

Friday morning, County Treasurer Vanessa Cornwell noted that the department was up and running as issues were resolved late Thursday.

Thursday, numerous state government agencies in Kansas reported internet issues, at the same time problems were being reported at the national level involving DMV sites. The Kansas issues were reportedly resolved by 4 p.m.

Two separate issues were involved in the outage, according to the Office of Information Technology Services.

On Friday, Allie Denning, OITS public affairs director, noted that the first issue was that internet access was knocked out temporarily because of a hardware problem.

The second issue involving nationwide DMV service loss is related to an outage reported by the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators.

“The network outage that affected multiple DMV offices across the country has been resolved,” Denning noted. “The Treasurer’s Office is able to process motor vehicle and driver’s licenses today (Friday).”
