American Legion to hold flag retirement ceremony

The Ellinwood American Legion will hold Veteran’s Day Flag Retirement Ceremony at 5:30 p.m. on Nov. 11.

Any torn or tattered American flag can be dropped off so that it can be properly disposed of. A chili supper will be served afterwards.

Members, guests and public are encouraged to attend.

Sanitation routes holiday schedule for Ellinwood

Trash pickup for the week of Nov. 7 in the City of Ellinwood will be Monday and Wednesday on the east side and Tuesday and Friday on the west side due to the landfill being closed Nov. 11 on Veteran’s Day.

Sanitation routes for Hoisington change for holiday

Because of Veteran’s Day, the sanitation routes for Hoisington on Thursday will be run on Wednesday.

Historical Society hosting train display

The Ellinwood Community Historical Society is hosting the Golden Belt Model Association for the Christmas Open Haus on Nov. 14 at the Heritage Senior Center, 103 N. Main from noon to 5 p.m.

They will have different sizes of model trains and an exhibit featuring a dining car with china of the Santa Fe Trail and a 1903 dining car menu.
