In a close race, John C. Haas, with just a little more than 53 percent of the votes cast, defeated Isaac Lemuz for the First District Pawnee County Commissioner’s post. Haas will take Arlis Atteberry’s seat on the three-person commission in January.

Haas, with results of Tuesday’s races unofficial until Friday, received 497 of the 935 votes cast, with Lemuz garnering 438.

County commissioners will canvass vote totals to make them official on Friday at the courthouse in Larned.
