Santa Fe Wet/Dry
Chapter will meet

LARNED — President David Clapsaddle has scheduled the summer session of the Santa Fe Wet-Dry Chapter along with the annual ice cream social at 7 p.m. Saturday at 215 Mann.
Members are requested to bring lawn chairs. Don and Audrey Prescott, Joan and Jim Bohart, and David and Alice Clapsaddle will serve as hosts.  
Ranger Ellen Jones of the Fort Larned National Historic Site will present a traveling trunk program, titled “The Boy and the Bullfrog.”
Plans are underway for the installation of a large marker to identify the site of Susan Magoffin’s near death experience at the Ash Creek Crossing, located five miles northeast of Larned.  
Donations have already been made toward the cost of the marker. All expenses are donated from local sources. The dedication is planned for Rendezvous 2016.

Erway-Thomson earn
singing trip to Florida

LARNED — After competing in a Kansas Fine Arts qualifying contest, Larned singers Madison Erway and David Thomson have earned an invitation to compete in the 2015 National Fine Arts Festival Aug. 3-7 at Orlando, Fla.
Erway and Thomson earned a superior score. The festival is sponsored by National Youth Ministries.

Pawnee Valley bake sale set for today

LARNED — A free-will bake sale will be sponsored by Pawnee Valley Medical Associates and the associates of Pawnee Valley Community Hospital from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at Pawnee Valley’s St. Joseph room.
Proceeds will benefit the Pawnee Valley Community Hospital Relay for Life team and the Pawnee County Relay for Life.

Relay for Life 30th anniversary set

LARNED — The 30th anniversary of Relay for Life will be celebrated Aug. 7 at the Pawnee-Stafford-Edwards County Relay for Life event Friday, Aug. 7.
Supporters are currently staging events and selling luminaries to honor someone who has fought cancer.
