Quilting Bees meet
LARNED — In the absence of the president, Virginia Bauer conducted the business meeting Monday for the Quilting Bees guild.
A thank you note was given by Roger Fox for the gift of a John Deere prayer quilt. Janis Lewis of Poulsbo, Wash. sent a card about an upcoming quilt show.
The quilting divas will sponsor their 6th annual show and sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The drawing for the Opportunity Quilt will be at 3 p.m.
A work day is scheduled to start at 8 a.m. Nov. 17. The next regular meeting will be Nov. 20. The Holiday Party is scheduled Dec. 4 with members bringing a gift to exchange.
Show and Tell participants were Becky Obermiller, Card Trick quilt top and John Deer Tractor quilt; Susan Gray, Witch’s Hat with twister design wall hanging top; Opal Macy, Pioneer quilt top and several quilt blocks and Alice Clapsaddle, three quilts including Flower Garden and Broken Star hand quilted quilts.
USD 495 to meet Monday
LARNED — The Fort Larned USD 495 school board will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday in a regular meeting.
Agenda items include reports from school principals, special education cooperative, curriculum, technology, maintenance, transportation, board members and Jon Flint, superintendent.
The agenda also includes approval of bills, the agenda and minutes, audience with individuals or groups, treasurer’s report, staff recognition, gift acceptance and acceptance of bids for trucks, loaders and an actvity bus.
Personnel will require an executive session and hirings, separations and transfers will be considered.
