Gone With the Wind to be aired

Tickets available


LARNED — The Larned Rotary Club will sell tickets at the door when the classic 1939 film “Gone With the Wind” is aired  at 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the State Theatre. It is a fundraiser for local charities.
Tickets are $6. They are available from Rotary members, at Scraps, 612 Broadway, or by calling Tom Seltmann, (620) 804-1364. Just 300 tickets are available for each show.
Rotary sends students to Rotary Youth Leadership Camps through scholarships and scholarships for students attending college.

Checkpoint scheduled

LARNED — The Larned Police Department and The Pawnee County Sheriff’s office were scheduled to conduct a sobriety checkpoint Saturday evening and Sunday morning  to check for possible impaired drivers.
Drivers will be stopped and those suspected of intoxication will be given brief sobriety field tests. Appropriate enforcement action will then be taken. The goal of the program is to increase overall motorist safety.

County will meet

LARNED — The Pawnee County commission will meet at 9 a.m. Monday at the Pawnee County Courthouse.
Agenda items include:
10 a.m. — Mary Beth Herrmann, Pawnee County health administrator, budget, grant and personnel.
10:30 a.m. — Junction City’s Dushyant Banker, questions on school zones.
11 a.m. — Kurt Demel, Pawnee County highway administrator, updates and on graders and loader
2:30 p.m. — Jim Johnson, Sunflower Diversified Director, proposed 2014 budget.

Council to meet

LARNED — The Larned City Council will meet in regular session at 6:30 p.m. Monday at city hall.
Agenda items include appropriation ordinance No. 5; added agenda items; comments from the audience on items not on the agenda; street signs; airport bids; water conservation plan; and Community Center door replacements
