Chamber supper Friday

LARNED — The Larned Area Chamber Ambassadors’ annual Soup and Pie Supper is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Larned Middle School. Larned High School plays Ellsworth in its homecoming basketball game Friday.
The menu features chicken noodle soup, chili and pies. Carry-out dinners are available. Proceeds are donated to the Larned Area Chamber Ambassadors Fireworks and Community fund.

Beta Sigma Phi chapter meets

LARNED — Carol Jacob hosted the Feb. 13 meeting of the Beta Sigma Phi chapter. 
Thank you’s were given to Glenna Melkus for hosting the Valentine event at the Reidener Inn in Rozel Feb. 11 and for the personal gifts and flowers presented to the 2012 queen Alice Clapsaddle.
The international endowment projects were presented which included scholarships and disasters funds. Rosie Rein presented the Beta Book on the yearly international contests available. Marcia King reported on cards sent and thank you notes received. 
Connie Carlton reminded members to bring their cookies for the blood mobile to the Haas Building Feb. 17.  Glenna Melkus announced that the next couples social will be in Rush Center for the annual St. Patrick’s Day events on March 17.  Kappa Psi will host the annual Founder’s Day celebration in April.
Glenna Melkus and Alice Clapsaddle presented the program “C est la vie,” a visual trip around Paris. 
Wadonna King won the door prize of a Monet scarf and each member was presented a chocolate and small card of a famous artist. The hostess served a traditional crème puff covered with chocolate during the social hour.
The next meeting will be at the rural home of Janet Skelton on March 12 with Connie Carlton presenting the program.  An election of officers will be held.
