Lunch Bites Friday

Witches Night Out set

LARNED — Dress It Up and County Seasons Flower Shoppe will sponsor Witches Night Out from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday. There will be in-store specials, prize drawings and refreshments.

Conference scheduled

LARNED — Kansas District Live Adult Web Conference, “Exploring the Psalms,” is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. Rev. Car show scheduled

LARNED — The Santa Fe Trail Auto Club’s Car Show in the Park is scheduled Sunday at Doerr Vernon Park. Registration is from 8 a.m. to noon. Hot dogs, chili, and chili dogs will be available. There will be trophies for top 10 entries, and for best GM, Ford, MOPAR, truck, and Best of Show. A drawing is scheduled for a $500 gas card, with the proceeds for the Santa Fe Trail Auto Club’s scholarship program. Quilting Bees meet

LARNED — Fourteen Quilting Bees members and guest Judy Bernett met Oct. 2 in the fellowship hall of the Presbyterian Church.
Members introduced themselves by telling their favorite quilting tool.  President Ann Hicks announced that the Oct. 16 meeting will commence with members bringing a quick/easy Christmas gift to show and the fat quarter drawing will be trees. Flyers of the upcoming Quilting Diva Sale on Nov. 10 were distributed  There will be a workday on Oct. 20 beginning at 8:30 a.m.
Led by Diann Morell, members sang the old song “The Quilting Party” or often known as “I Was Seeing Nellie Home” that Alice Clapsaddle recently found in the church archives..  Hicks then reviewed and demonstrated two quilt blocks.
Show and Tell participants were Myrna Cannon, “Modern Quilt Relish” kit using 5-inch batik squares; Joyce Bernum, prayer shawls and a quilted top all donated to the prayer quilt ministry; Susan Gray, flower kit and machine embroidered motorcycle figure; Alice Clapsaddle, two purchased handmade tote bags made from thrift shop sweaters, and a knitted yarn necklace; Coleen Wolf, potholders, tea towel apron, decorated towels  and a knitted afghan made from leftover yarn; Virginia Bauer, Christmas tree miniature wall hanging; Debbie Berkeley, two rubber duckling quilts; Ann Hicks, three prayer quilts; Diann Morell, prayer quilt for her brother in Wakeeney.
