Larned native Wise
wins librarian award

WOODWARD, Okla. — Larned native Connie Wise, the Woodward Elementary School librarian, was honored recently with the Oklahoma School Librarian Association, Polly Clarke Award. Wise has worked 20 years as Woodward librarian.
Wise is the daughter of Keith and Glenna Melkus of Larned. She earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Fort Hays State University. She did her practice teaching at Larned and Garfield schools. She earned a master’s degree in reading and her library science certification at Northwestern Oklahoma State University-Alva.
“We are very proud of Mrs. Wise and all her accomplishments,” said Kyle Reynolds, Woodward deputy superintendent. “She continues to work tirelessly to be a resource for students and staff, finding new ways to make learning more meaningful and engaging. It is great to see her receive recognition on the state and national level.”
