Quilting Bees meet

LARNED — Colleen Wolf chaired the Monday meeting of the Quilting Bees Guild at the First Presbyterian Chur ch of Larned.  
Treasurer Diann Morell notified members that dues for the year are being accepted.  Announcements included the sale in Alden on Jan. 27 -Feb. 2 from 10-4 and, 13 prayer quilts are being constructed with most completed, and a new roster is being formed as well as 2014 membership cards.  
A census of the group was that the fat quarter drawing be postponed until July with the categories being July-red, August-green, September-yellow, October-orange, November-brown, December-purple and January 2015-blue.
Ann Hicks announced that the 12 ½ inch finished block for the 100th anniversary of the library is due on March 1.  The block may be anything but must have the participant’s name and town written on the front of the block.  Judging will be by popular vote.  The blocks will then be made into a quilt for display at the library. The contest is open to anyone.  For further information contact Hicks, 620-285-1056.
Mary Weber presented a recipe for keeping colors of fabrics fast and not running as well as upcoming quilting opportunities.  Ann Hicks, Virginia Bauer, Diann Morell, Connie Ratliff and Colleen Wolf displayed 13 prayer quilts in various stages of completion.  The next regular meeting is on Feb. 4 at 7 p.m. A workday is scheduled at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22 at the church.
