LARNED — The Quilting Bees Guild met Tuesday in the fellowship hall of the First Presbyterian Church.
In the absence of the president, Diann Morell chaired the meeting and announced that six members of the guild were attending a quilting retreat in Concordia on April 24-26 and that the Jordaan Library quilt will be on display at the library during the month of May.
Ann Hicks distributed several more pieces to the “Gobble Till You Wobble” block and an updated laminated roster of members of the guild. Diane Schultz distributed the June block pattern which is the ninth block in the series. Many members are enjoying the challenge each month. Schultz encouraged members to continue working on the 16 ½ inch mystery quilt blocks. Please bring to show as they are finished.
Discussion was held on the upcoming Quilter’s Celebration slated during Santa Fe Trail Days on Saturday, June 13, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the church (use NW door). This free event will include a special program on “New Trends in Quilting” by Debbie Leiker from A Quilt Corral in LaCrosse, a Peddler’s Corner, free table, demonstrations by the Quilting Bees guild, coffee breaks, many door prizes and a luncheon at noon. The public is invited for all or part of the day. For further information call 285-2822 or 285-6033.
