Great Bend native and Hoisington High School graduate Katherine Schmitt got a unique opportunity Thursday. Schmitt, who is a student Kansas State University, met with United States Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas.

She was invited, along with a small group of selected students, to attend a meet-and-greet with Thomas at University of Kansas law school. 

Schmitt is a junior majoring in accounting at K-State,and is secretary of Pre-law Ambassadors at KSU. She graduated from HHS in 2016, and is the daughter of Carmen and Debbie Schmitt of Great Bend.
