Local student receives award

David Deleon received an award and a check from Post Commander LaForrest Bodine on Tuesday. Deleon was the winner of the Voice of Democracy contest that the VFW Post 3111 hosts. The VFW established the Voice of Democracy program in 1947 to provide students grades 9-12 the opportunity to express themselves in regards to democratic ideas and principles.
