A man involved in an injury accident early Thursday died Friday morning as a result of his injuries, a spokesman for Wesley Medical Center confirmed.
According to the Great Bend Police Department, Mark Depperschmidt was driving north on McKinley Street in a 2000 Chevy pickup at 2:42 a.m. Thursday when the vehicle struck a railroad crossing arm tower at Broadway and McKinley. GBPD officers and Great Bend Fire/EMS responded. He was transported to Great Bend Regional Hospital and then flown via a fixed wing air ambulance to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
After the Police Department was notified that Depperschmidt had passed away from injuries sustained in the accident,  Chief Cliff Couch issued a statement: “Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Depperschmidt’s friends and family during this difficult time.”
