Great Bend was represented at an elite car show held June 21-23 at the Kansas City Art Institute in Missouri. Brock McPherson showed his 1966 Shelby Mustang G.T. 350H at the seventh annual Art of the Car Concours.
A concours, also called concours d’elegance, is a show where cars in superb condition are judged against a standard of excellence established by the sponsors, with awards given to winners. McPherson said shows of their quality are rare in the Midwest, but the concours sponsors have built this into a top-end event, as well as a fundraiser for KCAI scholarships.
This year’s show welcomed racing great Sir Stirling Moss as well as famed auto historian and accomplished driver Denise McCluggage as the guests of honor, and featured more than 200 cars and motorcycles.
