The City of Great Bend has a number of advisory boards and commissions, and there are currently openings on many of them, Mayor Mike Allison said.

During the Monday night City Council meeting, Allison ran through the positions, noting these groups and the volunteer members play an important role for the city. Final appointments will be made at a later meeting.

These boards and commissions serve in various capacities to recommend action or strategies to the City Council. Members are appointed by the mayor with the approval of the council. 

Allison said some have current members are eligible for reappointment and others or not. However, whether one is reapplying or applying for the first time, he or she must submit an application.
