STAFFORD COUNTY — A missing 6-year-old boy was located within minutes over the lunch hour Tuesday in a multi-agency search in rural Stafford County.
The father, working out-of-state, had noticed that the boy had wandered away at approximately 10:30 a.m. as he was working on a center pivot amidst a cornfield in the vicinity of K-19, mile marker 28 in Stafford County.
SCSO officials were alerted to the disappearance at approximately 12:08 p.m. and a search ensued.
Mutual aid was requested from Stafford County Fire and EMS personnel and law enforcement officers from the St. John and Stafford police departments, sheriff’s officers from Barton County and Pratt County, Barton County Fire and EMS and the Kansas Highway Patrol.
SCSO also reported an aircraft was summoned, with Barton County K-9 also on-scene.
The boy was located safely after an approximately 33-minute search, before the aircraft arrived on-scene.
