John Haspels, on a break from  his mission work in East Africa, will be a guest of First Presbyterian Church in Great Bend on Sunday, Oct. 6. He will be giving the sermon during the morning worship service and presenting a program on his mission work following a dinner in Fellowship Hall during the afternoon.

John, along with his wife Joy and their four children, live in Nairobi, Kenya, where they serve with the Africa Inland Mission. The Haspelses provide living facilities, do purchasing of supplies and give logistics support for East African bush missionaries. Additionally, they work with outreach and evangelism among an unreached people of the Turkkana tribe, descendants of laborers who were brought from India during the 1800s.

John has an engineering background and supports the missionary community in around Nairobi with a wide variety of project assistance including the construction of a high school outside Lokichogio, Kenya.

They provide a monthly newsletter containing stories of their life and ministry to the churches and presbyteries that support him.
