Linda Moeder from Beaver announced her decision to run as a write-in candidate for Barton County Commission District 1, which includes the cities of Hoisington, Claflin, Albert, Odin, Olmitz, Susank, Beaver, and Galatia.

With the general election on Tuesday, Nov. 8, a little more than two weeks away, and advance voting underway, Moeder explained her decision to run.

“I ran in the August primary election and lost by only 39 votes. It was an unusual primary because there were five names on the ballot. The candidate listed on the November ballot received less than one-third of the votes in the primary. That means that two-thirds of the voters in August voted for another candidate. I think Barton County deserves a better choice. So I decided to run a write-in campaign for County Commissioner.

“I’m a common-sense conservative. I’ll be a strong commissioner to look out for the taxpayers. I’m concerned about out of control government spending in these uncertain and difficult economic times, aren’t you?”
