Mosquito spraying to begin early

Due complaints about mosquitoes, the City of Great Bend Public Works Department will begin to spray for the pesky insects this coming Thursday. This is earlier than originally planned, Great Bend Street Superintendent Mike Crawford said.

The spraying will last from 8 p.m. until Midnight, weather permitting. The schedule includes Thursdays May 12, 19 and 26, and June 2.

At that point, Crawford said they will look at the conditions and see if continued spraying is necessary.

Street Department personnel will apply insecticides from a fog machine mounted in pickup trucks running routes throughout the city.

Residents are advised to keep their doors and windows closed during this time. If there are any questions, call 620-793-4150.
