A Holyrood man was taken to Clara Barton Hospital on Sunday evening after the pickup he was driving struck a bridge guardrail in Barton County.
Patrick Phelan, 25, sustained injuries that were not life-threatening, Sheriff Brian Bellendir reports.
The Barton County Sheriff’s Office responded to the accident report in the 1400 block of NE 130 Ave. around 6:21 p.m. on Sunday. Deputies discovered a blue, 2006 Toyota Tacoma, operated by Phelan, had left the roadway.
“Investigation indicates Phelan was northbound when the vehicle left the roadway, struck a bridge guardrail and fell into the creek below,” Bellendir said. “The vehicle came to rest on the driver’s side.”
Bellendir said the BCSO is currently investigating whether alcohol was a contributing factor in the accident.
