A sizable crowd turned out to support music students at the annual Barton Endowment Music Concert on the evening of Thursday, May 3 in the Fine Arts Auditorium.
Enough people made the trek onto the Barton Community College campus to raise about $700 to go toward the Vocal and Instrumental Music Endowment Fund, which helps fund future scholarships to students interested in pursuing music as a career or to those students who want to continue to participate in music as a lifelong activity.
The department hands out 11 scholarships every year at about $1,000 each.
“I want to thank everyone for their support by attending the concert,” instrumental instructor Steve Lueth said. “We had a good crowd last night. It was almost full, and I think they were all very appreciative of the students and what they’ve accomplished this year.”
