A fun follow-up fundraiser to October’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s will take place from 6-10 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 3, at VFW Post 3111, located at 504 South Washington St. in Great Bend.
It’s called “Musical Bingo,” said Angela Sycz, a local volunteer with the Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s.
“This is surely going to be a fun time of music, singing and laughter.”
Instead of calling numbers, the DJ plays 30 seconds of a song. Each game is based upon a musical genre – ’70s, ’80s, ’90s hits, rock, pop, dance, one-hit wonders, etc., Sycz said. “Players dab out that song title if it is on their bingo card.”
The DJ will keep playing snippets of songs until someone gets five in a row or whatever the designated pattern for that specific game is on their bingo card and calls out, “Bingo!”
There will be two winners per game. There will also be a 50/50 raffle.
“This is a benefit with proceeds being donated to Great Bend’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s,” she continued. “We have received company sponsorship from local businesses such as Joe’s Plumbing, Delgado’s, Gambino’s and Z’s Liquor. Any companies wishing to sponsor may contact us.” Her email address is adsycz@gmail.com.
“We believe this is the first time a Musical Bingo has been held as a fundraising event in the area,” she said.
Admission ticket includes a bingo card with four games. Sycz urges players to get their tickets online now. Group seating and reserved seating are available.
General admission tickets are $25 per person. The ticket price includes one card, four games, and a complimentary beverage.
Tickets are available at https://musicalbingogreatbend.eventbrite.com/and at the door.
Great Bend’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s event was on Oct. 7 in Jack Kilby Square. “We were fortunate to make the $17,000 community goal and we hope to get to the $20,000 mark with this event,” Sycz said. Musical Bingo is open to the public and organizers hope to fill seats to help them hit that $20,000 mark.
