We here at the Great Bend Public Library hope that everyone had a safe and enjoyable Independence Day. It was a good week for all of us to relax and recuperate from the busyness of the summer library program as well. In fact, if you’re looking for something to do this evening (Friday, July 5), consider stopping by the library for our movie night for adults, which starts at 7:00 p.m. The north library doors will be unlocked between 6:45-7:15. Because of licensing restrictions I can’t tell you the title here, but you can check our library website or call us to find out (hint: it involves extraterrestrials).

Here are a couple more interesting tidbits from cool programs coming up next week. At 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 8, kids from Pre-K to 6th grade can visit the library to make their own telescopes for viewing the night sky. Pre-K to 2nd and 3rd to 6th will be making different types of telescopes, and we do ask that 3rd to 6th graders register before the event so we can make sure we have enough supplies for everyone.

Wednesday, July 10 there will be a juggling show at 2 p.m., followed by a juggling workshop at 4 p.m., and on Saturday, July 13 University of Kansas will be traveling through Great Bend with a mobile museum that will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be more information coming soon in the newspaper about these awesome events, so keep an eye out.

The library will be hosting a morning trivia and coffee event at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 13. This event is open to all adults, and we will serve some morning coffee while you tease your brain and show off your knowledge.

For event info or other library information, please visit our Facebook page or website (greatbendpl.info), stop by the library (1409 Williams St), or give us a call (620-792-2409). We hope to see you soon!
