Take Public Transportation to Answer America’s Biggest Challenges
As America’s economic challenges continue with rising gas prices, Sunflower Diversified Services – Catch-A-Ride will join with other public transportation systems nationwide to participate in the fifth annual National Dump the Pump Day on June 16. Sponsored by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), and supported by the Kansas Public Transit Association, the 2011 National Dump the Pump Day is a day that encourages people to ride public transportation to save money, protect the environment, reduce our dependence on foreign oil, and improve our quality of life.
In honor of the event, citizens are encouraged to try Catch-A Ride on June 16 with complementary rides offered from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Great Bend on a reservations basis.
Operating from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday –Friday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Catch-A Ride service is available seven days a week in Great Bend and local area within 10 miles of Great Bend city proper during all service hours with Barton, Rice, Rush, Stafford, Pawnee County’s serviced twice each weekday. Cost’s of each one way trip is $2.00 with 24 hour advance notice required. In 2010 Catch-A Ride covered 343,342 miles providing 51,011 rides helping area citizens get where they needed to be, when they needed to be there. 2011 numbers are on track to exceed that level of service.
National Dump the Pump Day on June 16 is an opportunity for people across the country to ease the strain on their wallets and provide a more secure future for Kansas and America.
